To begin planning your open rainscreen, cladding job please start by selecting a tool.
The Choose My Board tool allows you to choose from all compatible composite, PVC, modified wood and hardwood boards.
Use the Plan My Job tool to determine both types and estimated quantities of materials needed to start your cladding job. See Installation Guides for General Usage Notes.
General Usage Notes
- Actual material requirements will vary according to specific job design. Estimated material requirements listed in this report are based off of quantities required for a nominal 8’x8’ wall with 20% overage for furring and 10% overage for cladding boards and all fasteners.
- All rainscreen elements, including furring strips and sheathing, must be securely fastened to the building structure in accordance with building code. A professional engineer or architect should be consulted to determine the best fastening choices and patterns.
- Structural fastener values are based on DrJ TER1704-03: Cladding Attachment Through Foam Sheathing. All structural fastener recommendations and values should be independently verified per note 2 above.
- This SimpliClad guide is for composite, PVC, thermally modified, or hardwood deck and cladding boards. For any other form of siding refer to building code.
